‘Do as I Say AND as I do’… Jesus modelled LOVE. Based on John 13:34-35, Beth encourages us to ask God to pour out his reservoir of love into our lives.

The points for reflection at the end of the message were :

1. Talk to God about what might get in the way of loving as Jesus loved

2. A fruit of the Spirit is love. Ask Holy Spirit to fill your life again.

3. Ask God for a fresh love for those around you

4. Where could you demonstrate this love without expecting a return?

5. Where could you let go of grudges and offer grace to those who hurt or frustrate you?

6. Where could you practice patience by listening to others before arguing or judging their opinions?

7. Where could you reach out with kindness to people who are different from you or feel left out?

Looking at Ephesians 5:15-33 Mark Blackwell digs into how submission to one another is the highest form of love and how leadership is not about status or power but about reflecting the self-giving love of Jesus.

1. Have you been in an environment where Ephesians 5:21 was interpreted in a different way to Mark’s message? Is there anything you need to work through with God?

2. Mark gives various illustrations of submission. What does the word "submit" mean to you? What mental image does it conjure up?

3. In what circumstances do you submit to others - and others to you? Are you happy both ways?

4. As Mark goes through Philippians 2:1-11, identify what biblical submission looks like and take time to consider how your life matches up to this.

In the first in our new teaching series ‘The 7 One Anothers’, Martin Lewis looks at encouraging one another. Can we be jump leads of encouragement to others with the help of the Holy Spirit?

As you listen, consider :

1. How important is encouragement to you? How important is it to those around you?

2. Martin quoted John 16:33 reminding us that unexpected events can "flatten our battery" and discourage us. How do you respond when these things happen? What has helped you in this message?

3. Similar to the Premier Radio story, have you a story where God has led you in an unexpected way to help someone? Would you like one?

4. Martin emphasised the need to be intentional when putting Hebrews 10:24-25 into practice. Remind yourself of the 6 practical things he said and resolve before God to live them out.

Our final parable of this series shows the generosity of God’s grace. Everyone is invited to the table, however some excuse themselves, refuse the invite and attend to other things, albeit good things! Jesus encourages us to be fully inclusive, offering hope and love to everyone and not be judgemental church bouncers.

26TH JULY 2026 - DANE BAKER - LEGENDS : THE PSALMIST

Continuing our ‘Legends’ series, Dane Baker looks at the role and impact of the Psalmist.

As you listen, think on these questions :

1. What’s your response to the suggestion of taking a psalm and praying for your family based on it? Is that something you could adopt?

2. When mentioning the practice described in Psalm 139v21, Dane encourages us to read the Psalms through a New Testament lens. Can you think of other examples like this?

3. Think about Psalm 139:1. Does this gladden you, scare you or both?

4. Dane looks at Exodus 34:6 and explains the meaning of two Hebrew words - ‘Hesed’ and ‘Emeth’ - which reveal God’s character. Make a note of what they mean and meditate on these.

What’s in a name? Listen and you will find out from Mark Blackwell about Elijah as part of our ‘Legends’ series.

As you listen, think on these questions :

1. What do we learn about the kind of man Elijah was? Can you walk that same path?

2. Have you ever had to speak truth to power? How did you feel and how did it go?

3. Elijah means "My God is Yahweh". How did Elijah experience the truth of that? Think about times when God has proved to be God for you.

4. Mark quoted Elijah's prayer from 1 Kings 18:36-37. What was Elijah's motive? Is that why you pray?
