a life extraordinary

Born over two thousand years ago, Jesus spent the first few years of his life as a refugee. As an adult, he started to speak about - and demonstrate - what life with God looks like, something he referred to as life "to the full".

His teaching was radical. He claimed that if people trusted in him, they could experience a new life with God that wasn't otherwise possible. The crowds that gathered recognised that he taught with an authority no-one else had, and his extraordinary claims were accompanied by supernatural healings and miracles that meant it was difficult to ignore what he was saying.

The political and religious leaders were threatened by Jesus' growing popularity and paid one of his closest friends to betray him. False charges were brought against him and he was arrested, tortured, and crucified. His body placed in a guarded tomb.

Three days later, Jesus appeared again, risen from the dead and was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses in the weeks that followed. His closest friends came to realise that he was the Son of God, the long-awaiting Saviour, that had been promised in the Scriptures of their forefathers, who - by dying on the cross and then overcoming the power of death - had overcome all that separates us from God.

Jesus sent his followers out with his authority, to teach others what he had taught them and, with the gift of his Holy Spirit, to live the life he had modelled, proclaiming the offer of a new life. The church was born and has been growing ever since. Today, there are around 2.18 billion followers of Jesus around the world, and the Holy Spirit equips and enables us to live that same extraordinary life: life to the full.

At Fleet Baptist Church, we believe in that same transforming power of God and seek to demonstrate his love to those in Fleet and beyond. We want all people to know what Jesus has done for them and to come into relationship with Him. It is the best decision you can ever make. Your life will never be the same.
